Activities
Sunset & Game-Viewing Boat Cruises A three-hour guided cruise on a pontoon cruise boat around our private islands, Maaze and Mashape. The islands are home to many species of wildlife including impala, bushbuck, reedbuck, kudu, eland, defasa waterbuck, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, crocodiles, hippos, nomad elephants, and a large variety of resident birdlife.Guests are invited to sit back, relax and take in the breath-taking scenery that this area has to offer. Welensky Island Day Trips This small but beautiful island is named after Sir Roy Welensky (20 January 1907 – 5 December 1991) who was a Northern Rhodesian politician and the last prime minister of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. Unique to all the other islands in the area as it boasts a large sandy beach, Welensky Island a great place to have a picnic, barbeque or enjoy a game of beach cricket. This day trip takes place once daily, leaving the mainland at 11am and returning at around 2pm. Note* the availability and size of this beach is seasonal depending on lake levels, which fluctuate between the seasons. At the moment the sand bank is very large, due to a poor rainy season last year and therefore low lake levels. This activity may not be available during the rainy season (Dec - Apr). The cruise boat leaves the mainland at 2.45pm daily, returning just after sunset at around 6pm Nile Crocodile Conservancy Tours As Kariba Bush Club is located on the property of Zongwe Farming, Zambia’s largest commercial Nile crocodile farm, a visit to us is definitely incomplete without a tour of the farm’s conservancy; most probably the largest of its kind, home to over 2500 adult breeding Nile crocodiles. The natural earth dams are overgrown with indigenous flora and are a haven for many birds in this area. Hundreds of birds flock here each day to roost, nest and feed off the abundance of fish in these dams. Fish eagles, vultures, herons, storks, egrets, ibises, comorants, kingfishers, plovers, weavers and many more seek refuge here every day. There is a croc tour scheduled daily for 9am. Should there be need to run additional tours, we can arrange this at 11am and 2pm accordingly.
